ESP Kicks in

Last Monday,  ABS and ESP Warning Lights on simultaneously after emergency braking but I had no time to get it diagnosed at local Peugeot Service Center because I had to drive to Kelantan on the following day.

While I was in Kelantan, early in the morning on Wednesday the car was sent to an authorized service center in Kota Bharu @ Wakaf Siku (Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra). A faulty rear-right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor 4545.08 was detected and replaced. The car was ready around 10:30am in the same morning. Excellent service and reasonable price.

The ABS was tested by the technicians but I preferred to test the ESP by myself on my way back to Klang Valley.

Last night just after dusk I pushed off towards Gua Musang from Machang. It was still drizzling after heavy rainfall in the afternoon. The road surface was wet and perfect to push the car to the limit for the ESP to kick in...

After overtaking a car at 120 km/h the road ahead was clear and still wet.  I slowly built up speeds: 160... 170... 180.... and so on until the traction is lost and  the ESP kicks in to rescue.

Watch the VDO clip. (video with time, speed and location were recorded with Garmin 2575R Driving Recorder )

The ESP kicks in when the speedometer reads 190km/hr (186km/hr on the GPS) as I began be easy on the accelerator pedal just before negotiating a gentle right-hand curve - at which point the engine power was cut-off momentarily  and hence the speed was reduced until the intended course was corrected by briefly locking rear-left wheel.

What a fantastic job done by the ESP at 190km/hr on slippery road at night!!!
