How to Peel Off a Parking Sticker

How to Peel Off a Parking Sticker

If your parking permit sticker didnt adhere that well to your cars windshield, it could fall off and get lost, leading to parking tickets and fines. Unfortunately, since they make the permits so adhesive, they are very difficult to remove, once they expire or are no longer necessary. Depending on the sticker, you may be able to peel it off just with your fingers, but it will often leave behind a difficult to remove residue or will rip as you take it off, leaving pieces of parking permit behind. A specific technique and a solvent are required.

Instructions

    1

Soak a section of a rag or paper towel with acetone-based nail polish remover.

    2

Work the nail polish remover around the corners and edges of the parking permit decal or sticker.

    3

Use the razor to start slowly removing the decal, starting from the corner.

    4

Apply the rag or paper towel soaked with nail polish remover to the newly exposed edges of the permit, if it stops coming off with the razor or if the permit rips and leaves parts behind.

    5

Scrape the permit with the razor, until all bits of the permit are gone.

    6

Soak a fresh section of the paper towel or rag with the nail polish remover.

    7

Scrub away any residue leftover with the rag or paper towel.

How to Remove Water Stains Off Car Windows

Water stains on windows arent only unattractive. If they are thick or plentiful enough, water stains can be dangerous if they prevent the driver from seeing properly. At times, water spots are so mineralized that they are too difficult to remove with just soap and water or glass cleaner. Keeping your windows looking perfectly clear can be done in less than an hour.

Instructions

    1

Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and set aside.

    2

Fill the bucket with most of the remaining white vinegar. Make sure the bucket is absolutely clean before pouring the vinegar into it.

    3

Separate the sections of paper, so that you have them separated into individual sheets. Fold them in half, so that you have a two-ply paper thickness.

    4

Dip the newspaper sheets into the white vinegar until they are fully saturated. Dont leave the paper sitting in the vinegar, because it will get too soggy and will be unusable. Instead, just dip until saturated, then lift out of the bucket of vinegar.

    5

Press the wet, vinegary newspapers against the windows of your car carefully. White vinegar easily eats through the mineral deposit stains that hard water leaves. Because the vinegary newspaper sticks to the windows, this will allow the vinegar to remain in contact with the water stains for a longer period of time, versus just wiping with vinegar.

    6

Remove the newspapers from the windows when they begin to dry. Use a clean, dry towel to wipe the window clean, to see if the stains are gone, or if they wipe away easily. If they stains remain stubborn, repeat the process by re-wetting the newspapers, and allowing it to stick to the stains again.

    7

Finish by removing all of the newspapers. Spray down all of the windows with the vinegar in the spray bottle. Wipe down the windows, for a crystal-clear, streak-free shine.

How to Take off the Rotor on a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT

The front brake rotors on a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT are a part of the braking system. As the brake pads wear down, so do the brake rotors, and they replacement or resurfacing. Doing so is not a complicated process, and it should take about one hour. It does not require any special tools or equipment.

Instructions

    1

Park the Explorer on a level surface and turn off its ignition. Loosen the lug nuts, using a tire iron. Raise the Ford Explorer with the jack and raise jack stands to the frame to support the vehicle. Remove the lug nuts and the wheels. Move them away from your workspace.

    2

Remove the anchor plate-to-steering knuckle bolts that hold the brake caliper to the steering knuckle, using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Hang the caliper from the underside of the vehicle with the mechanics wire, ensuring the brake line does not twist or kink up.

    3

Pull the wheel hub off the front of the rotor. Remove the rotors center bolt with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
